The night RBG died I found myself in New York City, on the corner of West 12th and Hudson performing with some Broadway friends in an attempt to bring some life back to a city with a long road of recovery ahead. The high of performing for people, live in person again was quickly diminished by the news of Justice Ginsberg’s passing.
I made my way home while scrolling through countless posts of gratitude and sadness. Luckily, I landed on Instagram when AOC went live. Over the course of 60 minutes she eloquently explained the gravity of the situation and issued a call to action. In this candid broadcast she called specifically to artists by saying now is the time to use your art to make your voice heard. Why? Because it makes a difference.
20 minutes after the end of AOC’s Instagram Live, this song was complete. By the next morning I had decided to ask my friends to record it from their homes so I could piece it together as my own sort of call to action.
The last few months have been scary and uncertain but we are in for a lot more terror if we don’t vote Donald Trump out of the White House and flip the Senate. Enjoy this happy sounding, upbeat song but don’t miss the message.
Vote to save our Democracy this November and please donate to a cause I support fully. The money raised will be split between 5 extremely important and close Senate races that need our help. Flipping the Senate is essential to the future of this country and any amount helps these candidates in their continued fight for our future.
